Butterscotch Ice Box Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups melted shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon clove
Recipe
- 1 cream melted shortening with sugars. gradually stir in eggs, then mix in nuts. sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture; mix well.
- 2 shape into a 2 1/2-inch thick roll. wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight or until firm. slice cookie dough into 1/8-inch slices with sharp knife.
- 3 preheat oven to 425 degrees. bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 5-6 minutes.
