Butterscotch Ice Box Cookies

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups melted shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon clove

Recipe

  • 1 cream melted shortening with sugars. gradually stir in eggs, then mix in nuts. sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture; mix well.
  • 2 shape into a 2 1/2-inch thick roll. wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight or until firm. slice cookie dough into 1/8-inch slices with sharp knife.
  • 3 preheat oven to 425 degrees. bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 5-6 minutes.
