Buttermilk Spice Crisps

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 4 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Recipe
- 1 in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 2 beat in egg and buttermilk.
- 3 combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and nutmeg; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- 4 shape into two 9-in. rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap.
- 5 refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.
- 6 unwrap and cut into 1/4-in. slices.
- 7 place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- 8 bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- 9 remove to wire racks to cool.
