Buttermilk Spice Crisps

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 4 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 2 beat in egg and buttermilk.
  • 3 combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and nutmeg; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • 4 shape into two 9-in. rolls; wrap each in plastic wrap.
  • 5 refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.
  • 6 unwrap and cut into 1/4-in. slices.
  • 7 place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • 8 bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9 remove to wire racks to cool.
