Apple Crostata

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust, softened as directed on box
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 4 cups peeled apples, sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 remove pie crust from pouch; sprinkle with flour and roll out slightly.
  • 3 place dough on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 4 mix sugar, brown sugar, the flour and cinnamon in medium bowl.
  • 5 add lemon juice to apples; toss gently, then add sugar mixture and combine.
  • 6 spoon apple mixture onto center of crust, spreading to within 2 inches of edge.
  • 7 fold edge of crust over apples; crimp and fold dough like pleats.
  • 8 cut butter into small pieces and place in several spots on top of apples.
  • 9 bake 30 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
  • 10 poke apples with a knife tip to see if they are done.
  • 11 if crust becomes too brown, place a sheet of aluminum foil over the top during baking.
