Apple Danish

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, separated
- 1/2 cup milk
- 6 cups peeled sliced apples
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (i always use liberally)
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 -3 tablespoons milk
Recipe
- 1 cut shortening into flour and salt mixture.
- 2 combine milk and egg yolk and add to flour mixture.
- 3 pat 1/2 of the dough into jelly roll pan 11"x16".
- 4 arrange apple slices on crust.
- 5 combine sugar, flour and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.
- 6 dot with margarine.
- 7 roll out remaining dough and cover apple layer.
- 8 brush top of dough with slightly beaten egg .
- 9 bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
- 10 let cool slightly then make glaze by blending glaze ingredients and drizzling over warm danish.
