Basic Whole Wheat Muffins

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons oil or 3 tablespoons melted butter

Recipe

  • 1 mix all dry ingredients thoroughly, including raisins.
  • 2 make a well in the center of dry ingredients and add egg, milk and oil.
  • 3 mix only until dry ingredients are moist.
  • 4 fill greased muffin pans half full.
  • 5 bake at 375f for 15 minutes.
