Ingredients

- 8 sheets phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 medium tart apples, peeled and sliced
- butter-flavored cooking spray
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter, cold
- 1/4 cup almonds, slivered
Recipe
- 1 cut phyllo in half, spritz with butter-flavored spray.
- 2 layer phyllo with sprayed side up, in a greased 8 inch square baking dish.
- 3 in a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, ginger, and cinnamon.
- 4 add apples and toss to coat.
- 5 spoon over phyllo dough.

- 7 in a bowl combine bread crumbs, flour, brown sugar, ginger, and cinnamon.
- 8 cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs.

- 11 bake at 350°f for 40- 45 minutes or until filling is bubbly and topping is golden.
- 12 cool for 10 minutes before serving.
