Bran And Oat Scones

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 100% all-bran cereal (like all bran)
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins or 1/2 cup currants
  • 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup margarine or 1/3 cup butter

Recipe

  • 1 combine cereal, oats, raisins and yogurt. let stand to soften.
  • 2 combine flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  • 3 cut in margarine until crumbly, then add cereal mixture and stir until just moistened.
  • 4 turn onto a floured surface and knead 10 times or until smooth.
  • 5 flatten to a 9 inch circle or 2 x 6 inch circles. sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  • 6 place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 425 f for 20 minutes, then cut into wedges!
