Bayou Pie Crust

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 tablespoons cold water

Recipe

  • 1 combine dry ingredients.
  • 2 mix in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles cornmeal.
  • 3 this can be done in your food processor on pulse, or with a pastry cutter.
  • 4 sprinkle one tablespoon of water at a time over mixture until dough is moistened and holds together.
  • 5 handle lightly.
  • 6 divide dough in half.
  • 7 roll out on floured surface to a 12 inch circle.
  • 8 makes a 9" double crust.
  • 9 for a single baked pie crust, bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
