Chocolate Chip Scones

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup butter, chilled
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chip

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
  • 2 set aside.
  • 3 in a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, oats, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and baking powder.
  • 4 cut in the cold butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • 5 add chocolate chips and mix.
  • 6 gently stir in the egg/buttermilk mixture and stir just until soft dough forms. don't overmix.
  • 7 using a cookie scoop, drop dough about 2 inches apart onto well greased baking sheets. i put 12 on a sheet and use four sheets for a full batch.
  • 8 bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes.
  • 9 rotate pans and bake another 5-7 minutes.
  • 10 serve warm or cooled.
  • 11 will keep for several days if kept in an air tight container.
