Cinnamon Brownies

Ingredients

  • Servings: 36
  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2-2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 in a mixing bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter.
  • 2 add boiling water, stirring until thickened.
  • 3 stir in sugar, eggs, vanilla, and remaining butter.
  • 4 add flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  • 5 fold in the chocolate chips.
  • 6 pour into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • 7 bake at 350°f for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • 8 for frosting: cream butter in a mixing bowl.
  • 9 combine cocoa, sugar, and cinnamon; add alternately with the milk.
  • 10 beat to a spreading consistency; add vanilla.
  • 11 add more milk if necessary.
  • 12 spread over brownies.
