Amish Molasses Nut Cookies

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup crisco
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375*.
  • 2 in large bowl, cream crisco and sugar, then edd the eggs, molasses and vanilla and mix well.
  • 3 in a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger.
  • 4 and then add to the creamed mixture alternately with the sour milk.stir in the nuts.
  • 5 drop batter onto greased sheets, by tspful spaced 2" apart -- and bake for 30 minutes.until golden around the edges.
  • 6 allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes on sheets before removing to rack to cool completely -- .
