Butter And Lentil Rice (burma)

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup split dried channa dal, soaked for 8 hours
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Recipe

  • 1 drain the dal and rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear. put the rice in a pot and layer the soaked dal on top. add the remaining ingredients and the water.
  • 2 bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed.
  • 3 let rest for five minutes before serving.
