Butter And Lentil Rice (burma)

Ingredients

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup split dried channa dal, soaked for 8 hours
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 2/3 cups water
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
Recipe
- 1 drain the dal and rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear. put the rice in a pot and layer the soaked dal on top. add the remaining ingredients and the water.
- 2 bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed.
- 3 let rest for five minutes before serving.
