Caramel Crunch Apple Pie

Ingredients

- 9-inch pie shell
- 24 caramels (one-half of a 14-ounce package)
- 2 tablespoons water
- 4 cups apples, sliced and peeled
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 375 degrees.
- 2 roll pastry to a 12-inch circle on lightly floured surface.
- 3 place in a 9-inch pie plate.
- 4 turn under edge; flute.
- 5 melt caramels with water in heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
- 6 spoon apples into crust; top with caramel sauce.
- 7 mix flour, sugar and cinnamon; cut in butter until mixture.
- 8 resembles coarse crumbs.
- 9 stir in walnuts.
- 10 sprinkle over apples.
- 11 bake 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
