Preparation Time: 1 hr
Cook Time: 15 mins
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs (at room temp)
- 1/3 cup butter or 1/3 cup margarine, melted
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup of packed brown sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons bread yeast
- 1 package light cream cheese
- 5 tablespoons of softened butter
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups icing sugar
Recipe
- 1 mix the flour, salt, and bread yeast in a bowl. then use a bigger bowl to mix the milk, eggs, and butter.
- 2 combine the two mixtures and knead the dough.
- 3 have the dough rest and double in size. cover with plastic wrap and set in warm place - i left the dough by the fire for 5 hours or so.
- 4 when dough has doubled, cover and let rest on a floured surface for 10 minutes.
- 5 meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix the packed brown sugar and powdered cinnamon.
- 6 roll out the dough into a 16" x 21" rectangle. spread 1/3 cup softened butter on dough surface. then sprinkle the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture all over the buttered dough.
- 7 roll up the dough tightly so that you end up with a 21" roll (longer rather than fatter). pinch dough edge into roll.
- 8 cut roll into 12 equal portions. place rolls in 9"x 13" casserole dish. cover and let rise for 30 minutes (i left them overnight in the fridge covered).
- 9 bake at 400 degrees for 15 mins until the tops are lightly browned.
- 10 mix all the ingredients for the topping together on high speed for 1-2 minutes. spread on the buns and enjoy.
