Apple-walnut Cobbler

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

Recipe

  • 1 place apples in a greased 9-inch square baking pan; spread them out evenly.
  • 2 in a bowl, add 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and coarsely chopped walnuts; stir to combine.
  • 3 sprinkle mixture over apples.
  • 4 in another bowl, add the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; stir to combine and set aside.
  • 5 mix together the egg, half-and-half, and butter in a bowl; add to flour mixture; beat until smooth.
  • 6 pour over apples.
  • 7 sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts.
  • 8 bake at 325° for 1 hour or until pick comes out clean.
