Cincinnati Chili

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups water
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 bay leaf

Recipe

  • 1 i start by rounding up all the spices and measure them out into a small bowl and set aside.
  • 2 put 1/4 lb of ground beef in blender with a 1/2 cup water. blend until it looks like a meat smoothie.(not very appetizing but it gets the consistency of the meat right). add to large saucepan. repeat using all ground beef and water.
  • 3 turn burner to low.
  • 4 add tomato sauce, spices and chocolate.
  • 5 simmer for 4 hours.
  • 6 stir using slotted spoon occasionally. (it will remove a lot of fat).
  • 7 serve over spaghetti with grated cheddar cheese and diced onions.
