Cincinnati Chili

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups water
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
- 1 bay leaf
Recipe
- 1 i start by rounding up all the spices and measure them out into a small bowl and set aside.
- 2 put 1/4 lb of ground beef in blender with a 1/2 cup water. blend until it looks like a meat smoothie.(not very appetizing but it gets the consistency of the meat right). add to large saucepan. repeat using all ground beef and water.
- 3 turn burner to low.
- 4 add tomato sauce, spices and chocolate.
- 5 simmer for 4 hours.
- 6 stir using slotted spoon occasionally. (it will remove a lot of fat).
- 7 serve over spaghetti with grated cheddar cheese and diced onions.
