Buttermilk Nut Loaf

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2 in a large bowl, sift together baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
  • 3 add the whole-wheat flour and sift again.
  • 4 add the brown sugar.
  • 5 in another bowl, beat egg until light; mix in the buttermilk and melted butter.
  • 6 add to dry mixture.
  • 7 stir in the nuts.
  • 8 pour into a buttered and lightly floured 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
  • 9 bake for 1 hour.
