Cinnamon Maple Scones

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/3 cup soymilk
- 1/2 cup butter (i used smart balance)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) or 1/2 cup slivered almonds (optional)
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 375°f
- 2 grease and flour a cookie sheet.
- 3 combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl and blend with a whisk.
- 4 cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives.
- 5 in a separate bowl beat the eggs; mix in milk and maple syrup.
- 6 make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients all at once. stir in nuts.
- 7 gather the dough into a ball and roll out between two pieces of waxed paper forming a circle 1/2 to 1-inches thick.
- 8 cut into 8 pie shaped pieces and place on the prepared cookie sheet.
- 9 sprinkle sugar and cinnamon onto the 8 scones.
- 10 bake for 20 minutes.
