Cinnamon Maple Scones

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup soymilk
  • 1/2 cup butter (i used smart balance)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional) or 1/2 cup slivered almonds (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 375°f
  • 2 grease and flour a cookie sheet.
  • 3 combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl and blend with a whisk.
  • 4 cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives.
  • 5 in a separate bowl beat the eggs; mix in milk and maple syrup.
  • 6 make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients all at once. stir in nuts.
  • 7 gather the dough into a ball and roll out between two pieces of waxed paper forming a circle 1/2 to 1-inches thick.
  • 8 cut into 8 pie shaped pieces and place on the prepared cookie sheet.
  • 9 sprinkle sugar and cinnamon onto the 8 scones.
  • 10 bake for 20 minutes.
