Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

Ingredients
- 28 caramels, unwrapped
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 cups bread, cubed, i use biscuits sometimes
- 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 5 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 melt caramels with water in a covered double boiler or a sauce pan over low heat.
- 2 stir occasionally until sauce is smooth.
- 3 place bread cubes in a greased 113/4 x 7-1/2 baking dish.
- 4 top with apple slices.
- 5 combine milk, suga, vanilla, salt and cinnamon.
- 6 pour over apples, cover with caramel sauce .
- 7 set dish in a large pan on oven rack, pour in boiling water to 1/2 inch in depth.
- 8 bake at 325*for 1 hr and 20 minute or untol knife inserted in center comes out clean.
- 9 serve hot or cold.
- 10 note: i sometimes add pecan pieces or raisins for a change.
