Caramel Apple Bread Pudding

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 28 caramels, unwrapped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 cups bread, cubed, i use biscuits sometimes
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 5 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 melt caramels with water in a covered double boiler or a sauce pan over low heat.
  • 2 stir occasionally until sauce is smooth.
  • 3 place bread cubes in a greased 113/4 x 7-1/2 baking dish.
  • 4 top with apple slices.
  • 5 combine milk, suga, vanilla, salt and cinnamon.
  • 6 pour over apples, cover with caramel sauce .
  • 7 set dish in a large pan on oven rack, pour in boiling water to 1/2 inch in depth.
  • 8 bake at 325*for 1 hr and 20 minute or untol knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 9 serve hot or cold.
  • 10 note: i sometimes add pecan pieces or raisins for a change.
