Candied Apple Rings Or Slices

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 8 apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 ounces red cinnamon candies

Recipe

  • 1 slice the apples into thin rings.
  • 2 in a dutch oven or soup kettle put the water, sugar and red cinnamon candies.
  • 3 bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce heat to medium, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 when the cinnamon candies have dissolved, add the apple rings.
  • 5 simmer for 15 minutes on lowish heat until the apples are tender.
  • 6 while the apples are simmering, about every 5 minutes gently stir the mixture.
  • 7 when the apples are cooked, turn off the heat and allow the apples to cool in the syrup.
  • 8 they will continue to darken in color as they sit in the syrup.
  • 9 serve either chilled or at room temperature.
