Apple-cheese Torte

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cups apples
  • 1/2 cup almonds

Recipe

  • 1 first make the crust by combining 1/2 cup butter, 1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. blend in 1 cup flour. spread dough over the bottom and halfway up the sides of a 9" springform pan. the filling is; combine the cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla , 1 egg. mix and pour this over the crust. peel and slice apples. over the egg mixture spread with a topping of the 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and the peeled and sliced apples. sprinkle the surface with the 1/2 cup almonds. bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and cook for 25 minutes or more. i found i had to cook a little bit longer to get the browned top. please let delicacy cool before removing from pan. garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.
