Buttered Orange Cider

Ingredients
- 6 cups apple cider or 6 cups apple juice
- 1/2 medium unpeeled navel orange, sliced
- 8 whole allspice
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
- 1 orange rind, strip (3 inches)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 in a large saucepan, combine cider and orange slices.
- 2 place the allspice, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and orange peel on a double thickness of cheesecloth.
- 3 bring up corners of cloth and tie with string to form a bag.
- 4 add to pan.
- 5 bring to boil over medium heat.
- 6 reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
- 7 in small bowl, combine the butter, sugar and cinnamon.
- 8 discard the spice bag.
- 9 ladle cider into mugs.
- 10 dot with butter mixture.
- 11 serve while still hot or warm.
