Brazilian Honey-spice Bread

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup icing sugar, sifted
- 1 -2 teaspoon milk
Recipe
- 1 in a medium saucepan, combine the milk and brown sugar.
- 2 cook and stir over low heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- 3 in a bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
- 4 gradually blend in the milk mixture, honey, eggs and vegetable oil.
- 5 turn the batter into a greased 8" x 4" loaf pan.
- 6 bake at 350 degrees f for 55 to 60 minutes or until done, covering with foil the last 15 minutes.
- 7 cool in the pan 10 minutes.
- 8 remove from the pan and cool thoroughly.
- 9 if desired, combine icing sugar and enough milk to make a glaze of spreading consistency; frost the cooled loaf.
- 10 decorate with candied fruit.
